The Idaho Fishing Trip: Freedom of the Road 2007
South-central Idaho is the perfect place to fuel a Rocky Mountain tour with bait and tackle. Anglers bring a sense of purpose to backcountry camping trips: They just have to drop a line in the nearest fishing hole. Whether they return with the next meal or not is almost beside the point.

The Amadou
Amadou accessory to dry flies for fishingThis little accessory may be a little unfamiliar to some or familiar to others but let me explain what it is. It is used to take out moisture from a waterloggoed fly but particulary flies that are tied with feathers that come from the oil gland area of ducks and should not accept the floatants on the market. These oil gland type feathers are known as CDC feathers: cul-de-canard feathers. They are waterproofed by nature and they are the best feathers you can get for tying flies as they look incredibly lifelike when they are in the water.

The amadou is a natural material made of a tree fungus… it is extremely absorbent.

You Can’t Put A Price On Quality
I was packing for my trip earlier today and went to put my 2 piece fishing rod into my luggage but there was one problem, it didn’t fit. I tried my shortest rod, and it didn’t fit either. Not cool. So I did what any fishing addict would do, I went shopping for a telescopic […]

Are all Georgia fishermen like this? Steve H.,you will find this interesting!
Hello all, This news story was in my local newspaper the other day(Baton Rouge, Louisiana). When I read the short story on the front page, and saw the number of fish, I thought this must be a typo. After I read the full story inside the newspaper, and found out the number of fish was no typo, I could hardly believe it was true, since I have chartered with this Captain before. Apart from the Captain, what I really find troubling is the attitude of these 18 fishing individuals from Georgia, I…

Adam Guy writes: One of my fishing buddies volunteered to drive, so we decided to go fishing for a flatfish known locally […]

I get back from a few days in Cabo, and this place becomes a peaceful haven for discussions about boats and fishing. I notice one person in particular is missing…. hmmm was that the key? Of course it was… LOL! Welcome to the new and improved rec.boats. I sure as hell hopes it stays this way. –Mike…
